Nobody likes the way bill collectors do their business.  They call debtors at all hours of day and night at home and at work, but one collector may have gone too far with one debtor in San Antonio.  It got them sued.

The San Antonio Express-News reports when a collection agency called Whataburger's corporate headquarter dozens of times demanding that one of its employees pay a past-due bill, Whataburger executives got fed up and filed a lawsuit against the collection company.

The suit against NCO Financial Systems Inc. says these practices “amount to a campaign of harassment against Whataburger that is unreasonable ... and reckless.”  It says NCO is violating the federal Fair Debt Collection Practices Act, which carries fines up to $1,000 for each violation.

A lot of people wish more employers would stand up for their employees the way Whataburger is doing, and fight collection agencies that are clearly breaking the law.
