Hudson's Brandon Belt accomplished a rarity Wednesday night during San Francisco's game with the Boston Red Sox.  He launched a majestic home run which completely traveled out of the ball park and into McCovey Cove.

When a San Francisco Giant player hits a homer that travels into the water on the fly, it is called a 'Splash Hit'. It has only happened 68 times since the AT&T Park opened 16 years ago...well, make that 69 now.  In fact, the last time a Splash Hit happened was September 2014, and Brandon Belt was responsible for that one, too.

All totaled, Belt has 5 Splash Hits to his credit.  That's stout, but still quite a distance behind baseball's all-time home run leader, Barry Bonds. He totaled 35 Splash Hits before his retirement.

Brandon Belt, who played his high school baseball at Hudson, is having the best season of his career.  Belt leads the 1st place Giants in batting average (.298), on base percentage (.413), walks (39), slugging percentage (.505), and OPS (.918) [minimum 25 at bats].  With numbers like that, it would seem that Belt stands a shot at making his first All-Star Game in July.
