President Barack Obama may be running unopposed in most Democratic Party primaries around the country, but he had an opponent in the West Virginia primary.

Obama won the statewide vote, but a man who is locked up in a federal prison in Texas, and who did no campaigning, carried eight West Virginia counties.  Absolutely true.

Obama lost eight counties to Keith Judd, also known as Federal Prison Inmate No. 11593-051. Judd, who is serving time in a Texas federal prison for making threats at the University of New Mexico in 1999, took 42  percent of the statewide Democratic vote, to 58 percent for Obama.

Judd's "official residence" is the federal prison outside Texarkana, Texas, and he's run for president every four years since 1996.  He got on the West Virginia ballot by paying the required $2,500 filing fee and completing a notarized form.  Why?  Who knows?

Political observers say this shows that even many Democrats are so unhappy with Obama they'll vote for anybody but him.  They voted for the other guy on the ballot because he was there and he isn't Obama.

BTW:  Keith Judd is not related to the singing Judds or the award-winning actress and humanitarian Ashley Judd.
