We're proud to congratulate our friends at the Texas State Forest Festival in Lufkin, who recently were awarded 25 different awards from the Texas Festivals and Events Association! From the festival's volunteers to its events, everyone deserves a round of applause.

The entire list of awards is available at the Lufkin & Angelina County Chamber of Commerce's website, but it honors nearly every element of last year's Forest Festival. First place awards were given by TFEA for having the best website, volunteer program, public safety, and sponsor, among others. Special recognition was given to a crowd favorite, the Southern Hushpuppy Championship. Other recognition was awarded for the festival's radio promotion and media relations campaign.

Last year, more than 27,000 people attended the festival, from 102 counties in Texas and six different states.

The 2013 Texas State Forest Festival presented by Brookshire Brothers kicks off on September 18 and runs through September 22. We're looking forward to it, and hope we'll see you there!
