Late Saturday night, Nora Longoria, a justice with the 13th Court of Appeals in McAllen was arrested and charged with suspicion of DWI.
According to a report in the Valley Morning Star, the 49 year old judge was stopped by police after her Lexus was clocked going 69 mph in a 55 mph zone. Longoria admitted to law enforcement that she had been drinking while having dinner with friends. According to the police report, her speech was slurred and she was asked to perform field sobriety tests, which she failed.
The report goes on to state that Longoria pleaded with officers to let her go and that an arrest of this nature would ruin her life. At first, she refused to be arrested but when threatened with the charge of resisting arrest, Longoria complied and was placed in handcuffs.
Longoria posted a $2,000 bond and she was released from jail Sunday morning. The charge is a Class B misdemeanor.
