As part of this year’s National Gymnastics Day on September 16, gymnasts, families, friends, and enthusiasts from gymnastics clubs globally will participate in a variety of activities. Tall Timbers Gymnastics will have performances, contests, raffles, face painting, a food truck and other fitness activities to build awareness of gymnastics and its benefits. Many clubs will use this as a means to extend opportunities to underprivileged children to participate in the sport, while also providing a fun and free afternoon of play for their community.
Tall Timbers Gymnastics mission is “To teach the love and sport of gymnastics in the safest possible, fun, and family environment. To increase each child’s confidence, self-esteem, and physical fitness through physical, cognitive, social and emotional learning through the sport of gymnastics and to establish the enthusiasm for physical activity that remains for a lifetime.” Coach Ashleigh, owner of Tall Timbers Gymnastics says “Gymnastics teaches children many life skills such as discipline, time management, self-responsibility and more. Gymnastics is a perfect way to encourage movement, fair play, respect, perseverance and sportsmanship for all ages.”
Annually, USA Gymnastics and clubs nationwide celebrate National Gymnastics Day to raise awareness of the sport and help others. National Gymnastics Day goals include building partnerships with fitness-oriented programs for young people, supporting clubs by helping provide educational opportunities to staff working with the athletes, and supporting the pursuit of excellence in the sport of gymnastics for communities across the country.
