Led by Harris County, the population of the 10 county Greater Houston Metropolitan area went over 6 million people last summer, making it the nation's fifth-largest metro area.  The US Census Bureau says Harris County added more people than any other county in the nation between April 1, 2010, and July 2011.

The 2010 census reveals children now comprise only 24 percent of the US population, a two-point drop in the past 20 years. Experts predict it will fall another percentage point by 2050, while the group comprised of people 65 and older is expected to rise from 13 percent to 19 percent due to the aging of bab
