<p>Chris Bray and his father attended the first space shuttle launch back in 1981 -- and the last, just a few weeks ago. Bray posted a link to the photo on <a href="http://www.reddit.com/r/pics/comments/ime6m/the_picture_we_waited_30_years_to_make_father_and/" target="_blank">Reddit</a> on Monday and the reaction was immediate -- almost 600 comments have been left thus far, and various media outlets have picked up the story.</p>

Shortly before liftoff Endeavour’s commander Mark Kelly,  whose wife  Gabrielle Giffords watched the launch at Kennedy Space  Center, said the  flight represented the best of America and humanity.
