A Lufkin Restaurant Closes Its Doors for Good

A fire back in June damaged Ray's Drive-In West in Lufkin, and at that time the restaurant said it would not close its doors permanently.  But that has changed now.

Ray's Drive-In West on the Loop in Lufkin will close, but the original location on Timberland Drive will remain open.

One East Texas Town May Ban e-Cigarettes

E-cigarettes are becoming more and more popular, and another East Texas Town may try to put a damper on that national trend.

Nacogdoches is thinking about moving toward a ban on e-cigarettes, as more towns across our neck of the woods, and across the state and country, continue to research the effects of using them.  E-cigarettes create a vapor that is inhaled, and some call it "vaping."

Lufkin Police Use Facebook to Catch a Criminal

Be careful what you post on Facebook.  Anyone can see it, including police.

Ja'Bryant Davis is accused of breaking into Screen Geeks off of John Redditt Drive in Lufkin on September 5th and stealing phones.

Then later, Lufkin police noticed on his Facebook page that he asked if anyone wanted a phone.

Chili’s Restaurants Help Cousins Battling Cancer Today

Chili's Restaurants across East Texas today are getting together to help two young cousins, who have both been diagnosed with cancer.  They are from Lufkin, and are only 2 and 4 years old.

Four-year old Hannah was diagnosed first with acute lymphoblastic leukemia, and a short time later, 2-year old Allison was diagnosed with the same thing.

To help with medical bills, it's a Chili's Give Back Event today from 11am to 11pm.  You can help the girls with their cancer battle, just by eating at Chili's today.  Click through for the list of participating locations.

Ellen Trout Zoo Hatches New Snakes

Earlier this week - on Monday - two rare Louisiana Pine Snakes hatched at the Ellen Trout Zoo.

The zoo says on it's website that Louisiana Pine Snakes are a moderately large species of harmless snake related to the Bull and Gopher Snakes but are found only in isolated areas of west central Louisiana and East Texas. They are thought to be one of the rarest snakes in the United States and are being considered for listing under the Endangered Species Act.
