Where do babies come from? It’s a question we’ve all asked ourselves at one point or another, to no avail. This ancient knowledge has been lost to scholars for centuries — wild-eyed woodsmen would have you believe that a newborn rises from the earth as if from a tulip bulb after spilling the blood of an infant calf on fresh soil under the full moon. The powerful and mysterious scientific community subscribes to a surreal, almost Cronenberg-esque fantasy about fluid exchange, compulsive vomiting and horrific bodily distending. But even after all this investigation, the truth continues to elude the human race. We’ve all seen an infant before, they must come from somewhere, but dammit, where?

Here to provide a solution to this puzzling conundrum is the teaser trailer for the new animated comedy Storks, featuring the vocal stylings of Andy Samberg, Kelsey Grammer, and the comedy team of Keegan-Michael Key and Jordan Peele. As they’d explain it, human infants are manufactured in some sort of large, accident-prone factory facility and then delivered to excited parents by a fleet of well-trained storks.

The newly-unveiled teaser embedded above doesn’t make it too far past that basic premise, introducing a perpetually frazzled redheaded helper (though what’s a human doing at the factory that produces new humans?) and a dignified stork spokesman with Grammer’s sonorous tones. Warner Bros. has revealed a cursory summary of plot to go along with this truncated clip, revealing that in the film, the storks have closed the book on their days of child delivery and gone to work as couriers for internet retailer Cornerstore.com.

Top delivery stork Junior (Samberg) accidentally fires up the ol’ baby-maker and makes a baby — not by accident, that was a poor choice of words, not what we meant, just a surprise! — and must keep this secret on the down-low while delivering this child to its rightful owners. So, Monsters Inc. with birds. Whether the film can get out from under the shadow of that comparison will only become clear when the movie premieres on September 23, 2016, but for now, we can rest assured in the knowledge that we finally understand how babies are made.
