No place but California.  A middle school teacher in a town north of Los Angeles has been placed on indefinite paid leave, after some of her students surfing the Internet on their i-Phones discovered what she does in her spare time.

31 year old Stacie Halas teaches young impressionable teenagers at an intermediate school in Oxnard during the day. After school and on weekends, she makes extra money in "adult films".  She's a porn star.  And it's not soft-core porn. It's triple X rated hard core porn.

Halas was removed from the classroom and the campus Monday, three days after her pupils reported spotting her in a series of X-rated clips. The videos found on various websites show Halas engaging in a variety of sexual activity with various men.

The Oxnard School Superintendent says what Halas does in her spare time may not be a crime as far as the law is concerned, but "we feel it's a crime as far as moral turpitude is concerned."

The teacher's contract has no moral turpitude clause, but the California Education Code outlines employment conditions that could lead to her being disciplined or fired.

In a letter to parents, school officials say they are asking teachers to discourage their students from searching for and/or visiting these inappropriate sites.

Good luck with that.

We hate to break it to those school officials, but this train has left the station, and there's no calling it back.  This school bell cannot be unrung.

The entire world now knows this teacher is a porn star and where to find her videos.  They might be able to keep kids from seeing them during school hours, but what they do after school hours is another story.

What do you think?  Should someone who makes pornographic movies be allowed to teach children?  Should this teacher be allowed to return to the classroom?

Most of us can remember a time when teachers felt a moral and ethical obligation to be good role models for their students, and most of them succeeded.
