Actress-comedian Roseanne Barr says she’s running for the Green Party’s presidential nomination — and she's not joking.

Barr says she’s a longtime supporter of the Green Party, and she's running for the party's Presidential nomination because, in her view, the two major political parties aren’t serving the American people.

“The Democrats and Republicans have proven that they are servants — bought and paid for by the 1% — who are not doing what’s in the best interest of the American people.”

In a candidate questionnaire she submitted to the Green Party, Barr said she will barnstorm American living rooms.  “Mainstream media will be unable to ignore me, but more importantly they will be unable to overlook the needs of average Americans in the run-up to the 2012 election.”

Among other things, Barr says if she gets the nomination and is elected President she will outlaw war, and push for the legalization of marijuana.

As she put it in a posting on Twitter: 'vote for me, I'll fix this s***! -Barr 2012-'.

Barr has submitted paperwork for her candidacy to the Green Party. The party will pick its presidential nominee at a convention in Baltimore in July.

Barr has been a stand-comedian for many years, but she's best known for her hit TV sitcom “Roseanne”, which  aired from 1988 to 1997 and earned her an Emmy and a Golden Globe.

She's also remembered, and reviled by many, for the way she deliberately butchered the National Anthem - off key - before a nationally televised baseball game in 1990.  She ended the "performance" by spitting and grabbing her crotch.
