It's reported that Governor Rick Perry intends to use a speech in South Carolina on Saturday to make clear that he's running for President.  Sources close to Perry say he will remove any doubt about his White House intentions in an appearance at a RedState conference in Charleston.

It's not certain that Perry will formally declare his candidacy, but political bloggers say his decision to reveal his intentions on the same day as Iowa's Ames straw poll — and make his first trip to New Hampshire on the same day — will send shock waves through the race and upstage whatever results come out of the straw poll.

Perry is expected to make his formal announcement in Texas, possibly next week.
