"Shining For The Cause" could not have been said any better, as the third annual Pineywoods Cattle Baron's Gala on the Moore Farm Saturday evening , was a huge success in the fight against cancer.

As the  large crowd positioned themselves, the auctions, both live and silent, were geared at obtaining this year's fundraising goal of $300,000, with every penny being donated to the American Cancer Society for research, as well as, assisting those in their treatments.

Kelley Moore was coordinator and chairwoman this year, and noted that she had lost her mother-in-law to cancer, so for her, the war on the disease was indeed  --  personal.  The 2013 event is already in the infancy of planning where Becca Chance will take over the reigns of chairwoman.

The American Cancer Society is dedicated to education, research and advocacy in hopes of preventing this deadly disease.  The location of the local office here is at 212 Gene Simmons Drive.
