OMG! Sex in the City: the Prequel?

It's true.  The prequel series to Sex and the City is on track to hit TV screens in the fall of 2012.

Entertainment Weekly reports execs at The CW are hammering out final details on a deal to produce a new series based on 'The Carrie Diaries,' Candace Bushnell's young adult novels about the adventures of the pre-New York Carrie Bradshaw.

The Carrie Diaries starts with Carrie’s senior year in high school in the 1980s and continues to her first internship in New York City. Samantha Jones is in the story, but the other SATC characters are not.
