Josh Haddox of Nacogdoches is a champ! Josh goes to school at Texas A&M and is part of a fishing team there with Timothy Temple of Bryan, TX. The two just won the National Guard FLW College Fishing Southern Conference event on Lake Eufala in Oklahoma over the weekend.

Call it beginner’s luck, since this was their very first National Guard FLW College Fishing Event. How much cash did they earn for catching all those bass?

The win earned Josh and Timothy $5000 and advances them to the Southern Conference Championship. With a win there, the duo can earn a brand new bass boat wrapped in school colors for their fishing club. The top five teams from the conference tournament will move on the the national tournament.

The winning haul was five bass weighing 17 pounds, 6 ounces.

Josh said the two really did their research prior to the event and knew of some specific creeks to target, and they got lucky and found some aggressive fish. He says, “we had three keepers within our first ten minutes of fishing, so we knew we were onto something.”
