According to the latest Lufkin Police Report, a man gave a police officer quite a unique reason as to why he was smoking marijuana.  The incident took place Tuesday morning near the 1200 block of Moss Street in south-central Lufkin when an officer on patrol noticed a man with a marijuana cigarette in his hand.

The man was ticketed for possession of drug paraphernalia. The man told the officer he suspected his wife was cheating on him and needed something to help him relax. The officer confiscated the cigarette.

Elsewhere, overnight Monday, a wooden cross with "Jesus Is Lord" was reported stolen from a yard in the 200 block of Englewood Drive. The suspect used black shoe polish to write "Hell Awaits" and "He's Coming" and drew a cross emblem on the windows of a Dodge Avenger in the driveway.
