An accident involving a train happened Saturday evening on Hoshall Rd. near the Southwood intersection in Lufkin. Police found a Ford F-150 pickup with heavy front-end damage when they arrived, and there was no one inside. 18-year old Seth Hargis of Lufkin had been driving it and wasn’t hurt. What happened?

The police report says Hagris showed signs of intoxication and told police he was trying to cross the tracks but as soon as he started to cross, he saw a train coming. Hargis said he thought the train was going to stop because the train had plenty of room.

The train conductor said he saw Hargis’s truck on the tracks and saw Hargis get out of the truck and run away.

Hagris was charged with Driving While Intoxicated and booked into the Angelina County Jail.

This is the third train-vehicle collision in Angelina County in the last three months.
