A 28-year-old Lufkin area man may want to think twice the next time he asks a police officer to do him a favor.  Sunday afternoon, Lufkin Police arrested Dustin Havard and charge him with theft.

According to the Lufkin Police report, Havard was arrested after attempting to steal a 16 GB memory card and pool pump from Walmart. After being caught, Havard offered to pay for the items to keep from going to jail. However, he was taken into custody on a theft charge.

After being placed in a squad unit, Havard asked the officer if he would roll up his truck windows that he had left cracked. The officer then found six guns inside Havard's vehicle - one of those an illegal "short-barrel firearm." All of the guns were taken for safe keeping and Havard was charged additionally with carrying a prohibited weapon.
