Lufkin ISD Has a New Superintendent
The decision has been made.
After Dr. LaTonya Goffney existed for a time as the sole finalist for the Lufkin ISD Superintendent position, the Board of Trustees decided Monday to officially hire her for the job.
Dr. Goffney has been with the Coldspring-Oakhurst Consolidated Independent School District for over 14 years, and held several different positions there.
She officially becomes the Lufkin Superintendent in June, but will spend the next six weeks or so visiting schools and getting to know other administrators and teachers in the Lufkin district.
Dr. Goffney replaces Roy Knight, who announced his retirement last fall.
