Lufkin High School graduates are practicing this morning at Abe Martin Stadium, and there are a few rules the students have to abide by.

The school district says no flip flops, and no cell phones!  So you won't be hearing the text notifications going off during the ceremony.  The district says if they see phones they'll confiscate them, and give them back after graduation.  Also, no writing or pictures on top of graduation caps.

The valedictorian and salutatorian have been announced, and it's one male student and one female.

Congratulations to the Valedictorian, Cody Carter, and the Salutatorian, Courtney Aten - the top two performers in the class.  Both will be honored at this weekend's graduation.

Several students were honored this week at the Lufkin ISD Education Foundation's Panthers of Prestige banquet.  In addition to the top two students Carter and Aten, the district honored Will Chance, Ashlyn Coleman, Katie Gray, Caleb Guzman, Brad Henderson, Kimlang Ly, Mikaela Neal, Josh Rudis, Ory Schultheis, Trevor Self, Matt Smithhart, Madi Stephens, laQwitha Thomas, Peyton Thompson, Amber Thurman, Brittany Tiemann, Mary Vann and Jordan Verner.

Graduation happens Friday night at 8 o' clock at Abe Martin Stadium.  Congratulations to all the grads!  And parents too, for getting them through the high school years.
