At some stores and homes, the Christmas decorations were up before Thanksgiving.

Those of us that did put up the Christmas tree before carving the turkey have been accused of breaking holiday rules, but rather than rebellion, we rule breakers argue it's convenient. With the decorating out of the way we could concentrate on matters like shopping.

Now that Thanksgiving is officially behind us, the rule followers are breaking out the Christmas lights too. Lufkin will light up the season with a Christmas parade on Tuesday.

The City of Lufkin says on its website that “Winter Wonderland” will be the theme of this year’s parade, set for Tuesday, November 27 at 6 p.m. in downtown. There may still be time for an entry if you want to be part of the parade. Contact the Main Street office at 936-633-0205. The parade will start at S. 1st and E. Polk. Click here for the route.

Nacogdoches has the Nine Flags Christmas Festival going on now, with a lighting ceremony planned for 6:30 p.m. Friday night, November 30th. At 7:00 p.m. they'll show a Christmas movie downtown. Nac says they'll have over 3 million Christmas lights and a screening of "The Polar Express" on a 25 ft. movies screen. Admission is free.

Happy holidays! There are plenty of ways to enjoy the season.
