Learn ‘CPR’ at DFW Airport While Waiting For Your Flight

Going to the airport these days is like going to an event, before you get on your flight, and with a captive audience, vendors can take advantage of the idle time that traveler’s endure on a regular basis.

But, in this case, it’s all about absorbing a good feeling in helping out another individual requiring immediate medical attention – and you may be the difference between life and death.

It’s being called a “pilot” program, just to see how many people are actually going to use the CPR machine located at DFW.  You heard correctly, chow down on killer barbeque, sushi, and other delectable eats, then try some yoga before you hit the jetway, and if your flight is delayed, get pumped over knowing how to save a life.

The automated CPR kiosk is called “Hands Only”, because it is designed to teach life saving techniques by applying compression to the torso area without offering the traditional mouth-to-mouth resuscitation efforts.  Watch the succinct video instruction before taking a practice run, then conclude with a quick quiz to test your newly acquired skill.

The project is being spearheaded by the Dallas based American Heart Association in partnership with American Airlines, and if successful after the initial six month trial run, you are sure to find this a regular mainstay at other airports in the near future.
