New York Giants defensive end Jason Pierre-Paul is hoping others will learn from him.

Pierre-Paul survived a well-publicized fireworks accident last year that cost him a finger.

He managed to work his way back onto the gridiron, but the shadow of that accident continues to loom large. Pierre-Paul can now be seen in the above video, advocating fireworks safety. He reminds us to "Keep fireworks away from kids" and only let "fireworks professionals" handle them because, quite honestly, there's some pretty potent stuff inside of them.

You can bet Pierre-Paul, who will be back on the field for the Giants this coming season, will heed his own advice -- he underwent nearly a dozen surgeries after his accident and became a punchline among NFL and non-NFL fans alike.
