Millions of TV viewers think David Letterman is funny. Others don't think he's funny at all, and at least one radical Muslim is highly insulted by him.  He's calling on Muslims to cut off Letterman's tongue because of a joke he made on his late night show.

The threat was posted on an Internet forum that's popular with radical Muslims. The contributor, who identified himself as Umar al-Basrawi, was reacting to what he said Letterman did after the U.S. military announced it had killed a prominent Al Qaeda leader in Pakistan.

Al-Basrawi wrote that Letterman joked about the killing, and drew his finger across his neck in the familiar throat cutting gesture, which in Al-Basrawi's view, "demonstrated the way of slaughter."

He asked is there no one among you to "cut the tongue of this lowly Jew and shut it forever?"  Letterman is not Jewish.

The FBI is looking into the threat.  A spokesman for the bureau's New York office says "We take every potential threat seriously."

Officials say the concern is that someone will read it, agree with it, and decide that he or she wants to be the one who kills or silences David Letterman.

Letterman is just the latest high profile person to incur the wrath of radical Muslims. Last year a radical group threatened the creators of South Park with violent retribution for depicting the prophet Muhammad in a bear suit on the Comedy Central cartoon show.

Muslims around the world rioted when a Danish cartoonist published cartoon drawings of the prophet.
