CHANTILLY, VA – DECEMBER 5: The United States Space Shuttle Enterprise is one of many flying machines in the new Steven F. Udvar-Hazy Center, the Smithsonian’s new addition to the National Air and Space Museum December 5, 2003 in Chantilly, Virgina. Currently the Enterprise is missing segments from its left wing while they are used in the investigation of the destruction of her sister shuttle, Columbia. The Steven F. Udvar-Hazy Center sits nearly 30 miles west of Washington DC in Virginia and is home to such flying objects as the Space Shuttle Enterprise, Enola Gay B-29 Bomber, the Concord, SR-71 Spy Plane, and others. The center is scheduled to open December 15, 2003. (Photo by Brendan Smialowski/Getty Images)
