Of all the thoughts that go through your mind when your plane is hijacked, "Hey, I'd love to snap a photo with the lunatic masterminding this" should not be one of them.

Any sane person would be scared out of their skull. Brit Ben Innes, though, is not sane. No way. The evidence clearly indicates such after he had the gumption nerve balls whatever you want to call it to take a picture with the man who hijacked an Egyptair flight earlier this week.

The flight was heading from Alexandria to Cairo when Seif Eldin Mustafa hijacked it to Cyprus so he could get a letter to his ex-wife, who lives there. Mustafa was wearing a suicide belt that turned out to be fake. Mustafa was later arrested.

Innes, 26, got the photo while everyone remained on the plane as the ordeal unfolded.

Why did he take the chance to get a picture taken with someone who's clearly off his rocker and the world initially thought may be tied to ISIS? Innes explained his logic to Britain's Sun newspaper:

“I figured if his bomb was real I’d nothing lose anyway, so took a chance to get a closer look at it. I got one of the cabin crew to translate for me and asked him if I could do a selfie with him. He just shrugged OK so I stood by him and smiled for the camera while a stewardess did the snap. It has to be the best selfie ever....After about half an hour at Larnaca [airport] I asked for a photo with him as we were sitting around waiting. I thought, ‘Why not? If he blows us all up it won’t matter anyway.'

While it's not actually a selfie, this definitely is one of the more memorable photos you'll come across and will make for a great conversation piece if he chooses to hang it on his wall and then throw a party. Of course, now we have to wonder which one of these guys is more mentally unhinged.

As Innes' roommate told the Daily Mail, "I find it pretty mental but that's just Ben I guess!"
