The new basketball season has arrived, and both the Angelina College Roadrunners and Lady Roadrunners will hit the floor running on Tuesday. In fact, the Roadrunners are so eager to show off their new lineup, they’re offering free admission for all fans attending Tuesday’s home game against Victoria College.

The Lady Roadrunners will open the season on the road at Weatherford College and won’t play at home until Nov. 8.

Tuesday night’s Roadrunner game at Shands Gym will offer fans a first glimpse of new head coach Kyle Manary and his style of play. It will help that Manary and his staff are returning five players from last season, including Corinthian Ramsey (one of the conference scoring leaders in 2015-2016), Gary Blackston, Trent Brinkley, Quinton Bush and Victor Bell. Those sophomores form the nucleus for a squad featuring transfers Isaiah Bailey, Kyndall Powell and Robert Lewis; and a load of freshmen including Josiah Garges, Carlos Simpson, Angel Bullock, Shaquell Gainey, Malcolm Evans, Jamain Owens and Jason Towery, Jr.

The Roadrunners showed their scoring mettle in last week’s 108-83 scrimmage win over Pro Vision Academy. Blackston led the way with 28 points, but nearly every Roadrunner contributed to the numbers – a factor on which Manary is counting for the entire season.

Tuesday’s game at Shands Gymnasium tips off at 7 p.m. There will be no admission charge for fans.
