The Ellen Trout Zoo has seen two Bay Duikers born in the last six weeks.

The zoo says on its Facebook page its second mated pair of Duikers had a calf late last week, and that was one of the largest calves born at the zoo in recent years.  The zoo also said the first baby has more than tripled her weight since her birth last month.

Where do Bay Duikers usually live?

Bay Duikers sort of look a little like a cross between a deer and an antelope, and usually live in rainforests in places like the northern Congo and Liberia.  And the Ellen Trout Zoo of course.

The baby Bay Duikers are being monitored by the vets at the zoo, and will be part of the exhibits soon if they're not already.

If you haven't been to the Ellen Trout Zoo in awhile, go check it out!  It's at 402 Zoo Circle in Lufkin, just off of north Loop 287, and it's open daily from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., including holidays and weekends.  Oh, and the Halloween celebration known as Zoo Boo is coming up on October 24th and 25th, and they'll have trick-or-treating and a costume contest.  If only you could rustle up a Bay Duiker outfit.
