This coming Friday, May 4th, the Texas branch of the American Federation of Teachers is inviting all Texas schools to be part of a nationwide stand against bullying, by participating in the Stand 4 Change Day.

The national group known as Stand4change.org is asking educators and students across the country to stand together for five minutes at 11 a.m. Friday recognize and focus public attention on the problem of bullying and their goal of putting a stop to it.

“If all students, teachers and other educators stand united against bullying-for five minutes on Friday,” AFT President Randi Weingarten said, “we can spark a national conversation about the simple but powerful message that bullying is not acceptable in our schools and communities.”

Local school districts have already begun registering, and hope to garner more support during the week.
