Until April 17 the Texas Department of Public Safety is offering to drastically cut fines for those with a suspended license due to falling behind on ticket payment.
A DPS spokesman says the goal of the amnesty period is to bring drivers into compliance with the law, so they can become licensed and insured drivers.
The amnesty reduction does not apply to any other fees owed to the department.
