County Dems Looking for New Candidates

Steve Knight of the Lufkin News reports the Angelina County Democratic Party is looking for new candidates to replace their disqualified candidates for County Sheriff and County Constable Precinct 3.

Those candidates were taken off the November ballot after it was learned that both had crossed over and voted in the Republican Primary, in violation of the Texas Election Code.  State law says a candidate in one party's primary cannot vote in the other party's primary, and anyone who does that is disqualified from the election.

Angelina County Democratic Party Chairman Jim Wark says the law allows him to replace candidates who're declared ineligible.  So, he's looking for people interested in running for the two positions.
