After a one year hiatus caused by the drought, mosquito spraying is underway again in Lufkin and Nacogdoches.  Officials in both cities say their mosquito trucks are getting back to business as usual, and there are plenty mosquitoes out there waiting for them.

Officials in both cities say we have an explosion of mosquitoes because of an unusually wet spring and regular rain.  Mosquitoes lay their eggs in standing water, so the rains have created plenty of places to spray.

The Lufkin Parks and Recreation Department sprays for mosquitoes in the city parks on a regular basis, and they will spray in residential areas on request.
