The Houston Chronicle reports the Texas Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) is changing its identification requirements for registering or transferring vehicle titles. Starting next month, DMV will accept ANY government issued photo ID card, including cards issued by foreign governments.  The temporary rules will expire on August 31st of 2013, when DMV will require an American-issued photo ID. The Lufkin News reports the Angelina County Democratic Party has recruited a candidate to run for County Sheriff in November.

It's reported that former Arizona Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords and her husband, retired astronaut Mark Kelly, have decided to move back to Arizona.  This comes a year and a half after she moved to Houston for intensive physical and speech therapy after a gunman shot her in the head at a public event in Tuscon.

Presumptive Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney has named Rep. Paul Ryan of Wisconsin his running mate.

President Barack Obama is on the horns of a classic dilemma.  Like every POTUS for the past 102 years, Obama is the honorary President of the Boy Scouts of America. However, unlike the previous POTUSes, it is reported in the Lufkin News that Obama doesn't agree with the Scouts' stated policy of not allowing openly homosexual boys and men to be scout members or scout leaders.

The Houston Chronicle reports former Arizona Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords and her husband have no problem with a plea bargain for the man who's accused of shooting her and many others at a public meeting in Tuscon last year.  Six people were killed and 14 others, including Giffords, were wounded

The Lufkin News reports Lufkin School District officials are worrying out loud about the federal funding the district stands to lose when the Federal Budget Control Act goes into effect in January.

Has it really been four years?  It was in 2008 that an arsonist set fire to the historic Texas Governors Mansion across the street from the State  Capitol in Austin, but that's history now.  The Austin American-Statesman reports the mansion is ready to be the Governor's home again.
