Thanks to a Texas Congressman, pharmaceutical companies will get a big incentive to start producing drugs for treating cancer in children.  These are "orphan drugs" which the drug makers stopped making because they couldn't make money from them, but that should change soon.

It's reported that despite the presence of some of the finest and most famous medical centers, hospitals and specialized medical facilities in the world, a report from the US Department of Health and Human Services says Texas ranks at the bottom in the overall quality of the health care it provides.  The report says Texas is falling short in areas ranging from acute hospital care to home treatment

In the never-ending war against the spread of the HIV virus that can lead to AIDS, the Food and Drug Administration announced Tuesday that it has approved the first-ever a self-administered HIV testing kit that produces results without the use of a laboratory.

American kids suffer about three and a half million sports-related injuries every year.  Three out of four of  those injuries are not considered serious, but that still means one in every four --  more than 800 thousand -- ARE serious.  Like to know which sports cause the most serious injuries?

This story happened in Pasadena, and it says a lot about how great it is to have neighbors who really care about you.  The Houston Chronicle reports that some people in a Pasadena mobile home park caught four men breaking into a neighbor's home, so they went after them with baseball bats.
