Big Sister is Watching You – Really

Freedom of speech allows journalists to get away with a lot in America, but the Department of Homeland Security is keeping close tabs on who is saying what to whom and about whom.

Under the new National Operations Center Media Monitoring Initiative, DHS has authority to find and retain data on journalists and just about everybody who uses social media to disseminate information.

So it's true. Homeland Security Director Janet Napolitano - aka Big Sister - is watching all of us.

Texas Teen With Pellet Gun Killed by Police

It happened Wednesday morning in Brownsville.  Police shot and killed an eighth-grade student in a middle school hallway after he refused to drop the pellet pistol he'd smuggled into the school.

15 year old Jaime Gonzalez died at a Brownsville hospital after police responded to a 911 call reporting an individual with a gun at Cummings Middle School in downtown Brownsville.

School officials say the incident started when the boy assaulted another student.  When teachers intervened they discovered the pistol and called for police assistance.

The man, whose identity is protected by Greek law, created 19 non-existent children in order to live off of government benefits. Oops. Our Bad. Mythbusters’ Cannonball Stunt Hits Houses — Where People Live

The hosts of the popular Discovery Channel cable TV show "Myth-Busters" have some explaining to do.  One of their stunts went very awry, to say the least.

They fired a cannonball at a set of targets, but it missed and went on to hit two houses and a car in a neighborhood on the other side of a nearby hill.

Four suspects are in custody charged with capital murder in connection with a fatal shooting in Harris County that left one person dead and an undercover Harris County Sheriff's deputy wounded.
