Lufkin Animal Shelter Receives National Buzz Online

A few days ago, Stacey Faulkner tweeted a photograph of a dog potentially being mishandled by workers at a Lufkin Animal Shelter. That caught the attention of not only her own Twitter Followers, but also the attention of singer Rob Thomas of Matchbox 20.

The firestorm led to an investigation into the animal's treatment at Kurth Memorial Animal Shelter.

When Tammy Faile and her two children were chosen as the military family of the game for South Carolina's match up Saturday against the University of Georgia, they probably expected some sort of message from their husband and father Sgt. First Class Scott Faile, who is stationed in South Korea.

And that's what they got at halftime, a video message on the University of South Carolina’s Williams-Brice stadium's Jumbotron.

I heard Kidd Kraddick talking about this story this morning on my way to work, and my heart hurt for the woman they were talking about.

After watching this video, I am infuriated by the kids’ actions and in total shock that our youth can be so hurtful and ruthless. When I was younger, my friends and I respected adults because they were the authority figure. Now, kids don’t think the rules apply to them, and they’re not afraid of adults. I blame this on the parents and their parenting skills.

A judge in Montgomery County has come to his senses, and has dropped the contempt citation he slapped on a high school honors student he put in jail for truancy.  The 17 year old student is also refusing to accept financial donations that are pouring in from around the world.

It's called cyber-baiting, and it's a growing phenomenon in today's electronic and connected world.  It happens when students deliberately provoke a teacher to the breaking point.

When the teacher finally "loses it", they video his or her emotional or angry outburst on their cellphones and the video goes viral on YouTube in a matter of minutes.

It's humiliating, it destroys a teacher's morale, and as it has in many cases, it can cost them their job.

Lufkin Sports Car Owner Sued for Insurance Fraud

Remember that Lufkin man who drove his million dollar high performance Bugatti sports car into a lagoon off Galveston Bay two years ago, and claimed it was an accident?

He filed an insurance claim for more than two million dollars, but the insurance company isn't buying his story.  The company has sued him for insurance fraud.
