Bathroom Visits Limited for Some Students at Illinois High School

Students at Evergreen Park High School in Illinois may be well-advised to avoid excessive water intake — or find themselves with longer school days.

Some teachers there have implemented a policy of allowing each student only three bathroom visits during class each semester. Any subsequent visits require students to make up the class time later in the day.

DPS Reminder: Don’t Drive Around that School Bus

Motorists stuck in traffic, behind a school bus that's loading or unloading children,  and in such a big hurry they're thinking about going around that bus, would be wise to take a deep breath, count to ten and think again.  A Department of Public Safety officer may be watching.

This initiative is part of National School Bus Safety Week, which runs through Friday Oct 21.

Lawsuit Challenges School Funding Cuts

Texas school districts are headed back to court in another effort to get more equitable funding for public schools.  A coalition representing more than 150 independent public school districts, taxpayers and parents has filed a lawsuit against the state.  All six school districts in Angelina County are in this coalition.

They claim the state's public school finance system is unconstitutional because it does not treat Texas taxpayers and school children fairly.
