Boy Bitten By Shark at Galveston Beach

According to report by ABC 13 News in Houston, a 13 year old boy visiting Galveston was bitten on the foot while walking in the water near the 37th street area. 

The incident happened around 10 this morning near the jetty pictured above, in an area that is near Gaido's Restaurant and just 10 blocks away from Galveston's Pleasure Pier.  The boy, visiting from Odessa, Texas, and a friend were walking barefoot in the water when they waded into a school of fish.  It was then that a shark described as about 4-5 feet long bit the boy's foot.

The boy was taken by EMS to a nearby hospital and he is expected to recover.  The beach was not closed.
