Jim Bell is a Lufkin native with many years of experience in commercial and public radio news broadcasting.  Winner of many awards for news writing, reporting and news production from Texas Associated Press Broadcasters Association, Houston Press Club, Dallas Press Club, Harris County Medical Society and Texas Medical Association.   He's been married to the same woman for 35 years,  with four children and six grandchildren.

Update: Keystone XL Pipeline Gets Key Permits

The Houston Chronicle reports that TransCanada has received the last of three key permits from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers to start building the 485-mile Gulf Coast section of its controversial Keystone XL pipeline. The company says this means the $2.3 billion oil pipeline can start construction in the “coming weeks.”

Family Crisis Center Wins its Toyota Van

The Family Crisis Center of East Texas in Lufkin is the winner in Day 73 of Toyota USA's 100 Cars For Good national philanthropic campaign. The Center beat the other four nonprofit finalists in the online voting, and it will get a free Toyota van from Loving Toyota of Lufkin.

This is hard to believe.  A new study reported by a Detroit TV station seems to show that for today's young adults -- the "Internet Generation" -- “sexting,” sending sexually explicit photos or messages through their phones, may be a normal, healthy component of modern dating.
