Jen Austin

It's fun to pick on the boys in the office, fun to play music, and fun to talk to you all day at work. Thanks for listening! I grew up in a one-stoplight town in rural Nebraska. My whole family still lives there and I love going back to visit them, but I also love Texas. Barbecue, fajitas, and great live music....it's the place to be. I've lived in Texas for 16 years now. Austin, Dallas, and here. I've worked in radio from the moment I graduated from college. (The University of Nebraska...Go Huskers!) I've been on a hundred stations at one point or another. I just love radio. Other things I love....let's see. Blue ink. Black bores me a bit. I love cheddar cheese and barbecue sauce and anything that the two happen to touch. I fall asleep in almost every movie I attempt to watch I have made it through Eat, Pray, Love and Mr. Wright. I like chick flicks. I have an awesome family and love spending time with them. You'll probably hear me talk about my daughters on the air. They're toddler girls who exhaust me, crack me up, and amaze me because I don't think I was ever that smart. I have two miniature schnauzers too. Thanks for stopping by. Now tell me about you.

Texas Has Great Tippers

If you dine out at the Olive Garden, or Hole in One Cafe, or another one of your favorite spots in Lufkin, do you tip well?  You just might be boosting the average for Texas.

We've all got cheapskates in our circle of friends and family, but for the most part Texans are good tippers.  On average, we tip 19.7 percent here and that puts us in the top 5.  The best overall tippers are in New York and New Jersey, at around 25 percent.  Those moneybags...that's a quarter of the bill!  Who's the worst?

East Texans Honor Veterans This Memorial Day

Memorial Day is usually a day to relax at the lake, fire up the grill, or take in a baseball game.

But it's more than a day off.  While we're enjoying the festivities, it's important to remember why we're not at work.  To take time to honor military veterans!

A group gathered in Lufkin Saturday at the Garden of Memories cemetery to honor those who have made the ultimate sacrifice, and if you were there you probably saw the multitude of flags.

Tornadoes Rip Through Texas, Leave Several Dead

Today in Lufkin and Nacogdoches we have the chance of heavy rain with embedded thunderstorms, but the situation doesn't appear to be anything like what North Texas saw last night.

As many as ten possible tornadoes ripped through areas west of Dallas-Fort Worth Wednesday night, and left 250 people homeless, 100 injured, and 6 dead.  Changes to those numbers could come today as emergency responders fully assess the damage.
