Jen Austin

It's fun to pick on the boys in the office, fun to play music, and fun to talk to you all day at work. Thanks for listening! I grew up in a one-stoplight town in rural Nebraska. My whole family still lives there and I love going back to visit them, but I also love Texas. Barbecue, fajitas, and great live music....it's the place to be. I've lived in Texas for 16 years now. Austin, Dallas, and here. I've worked in radio from the moment I graduated from college. (The University of Nebraska...Go Huskers!) I've been on a hundred stations at one point or another. I just love radio. Other things I love....let's see. Blue ink. Black bores me a bit. I love cheddar cheese and barbecue sauce and anything that the two happen to touch. I fall asleep in almost every movie I attempt to watch I have made it through Eat, Pray, Love and Mr. Wright. I like chick flicks. I have an awesome family and love spending time with them. You'll probably hear me talk about my daughters on the air. They're toddler girls who exhaust me, crack me up, and amaze me because I don't think I was ever that smart. I have two miniature schnauzers too. Thanks for stopping by. Now tell me about you.

Lufkin Gets a NICU

Chances are, you know someone who has benefited from the NICU - that's Neo-Natal Intensive Care Unit.

I have two friends in Dallas who gave birth to baby boys that needed a little extra help getting started in life.  One spent a month in the NICU, and one spent nine days there.  Both are doing just fine now!  One is 7 now and the other just turned 2.  They started out their lives hooked up to tubes and on respirators, and they're just as happy and healthy as every other kid now.

State police say the driver of the car that collided with an 18-Wheeler Saturday night had been drinking.

Three Stephen F. Austin students were killed in the accident, and one was injured.  Blood test results are still pending, but police think the driver, 19-year old Kevin Garcia, was under the influence of alcohol when he attempted a u-turn from the shoulder of the road, and entered the path of an oncoming 18-wheeler.

Prom Spending At an All-Time High

So dads, how much money did you fork over to send your daughter to the prom?  Pictures were posted in the Lufkin Daily News last weekend, and it looks like fun was had by all.  But did it break the bank?

Prom spending is going up every year, and one newspaper today says the average family spends an amount that could equal a mortgage or a couple of car payments!  How much is too much?

Texas A&M's Luke Joeckel had a great 2012 season, and earned high praise for protecting star quarterback Johnny Manziel's blind side.

Some project that Joeckel could be taken by the Kansas City Chiefs, with the number one overall pick in this year's NFL Draft, which starts Thursday in New York.
