Jen Austin

It's fun to pick on the boys in the office, fun to play music, and fun to talk to you all day at work. Thanks for listening! I grew up in a one-stoplight town in rural Nebraska. My whole family still lives there and I love going back to visit them, but I also love Texas. Barbecue, fajitas, and great live music....it's the place to be. I've lived in Texas for 16 years now. Austin, Dallas, and here. I've worked in radio from the moment I graduated from college. (The University of Nebraska...Go Huskers!) I've been on a hundred stations at one point or another. I just love radio. Other things I love....let's see. Blue ink. Black bores me a bit. I love cheddar cheese and barbecue sauce and anything that the two happen to touch. I fall asleep in almost every movie I attempt to watch I have made it through Eat, Pray, Love and Mr. Wright. I like chick flicks. I have an awesome family and love spending time with them. You'll probably hear me talk about my daughters on the air. They're toddler girls who exhaust me, crack me up, and amaze me because I don't think I was ever that smart. I have two miniature schnauzers too. Thanks for stopping by. Now tell me about you.

One East Texas Town May Ban e-Cigarettes

E-cigarettes are becoming more and more popular, and another East Texas Town may try to put a damper on that national trend.

Nacogdoches is thinking about moving toward a ban on e-cigarettes, as more towns across our neck of the woods, and across the state and country, continue to research the effects of using them.  E-cigarettes create a vapor that is inhaled, and some call it "vaping."

Careers Are Shifting; More Women Are Becoming Farmers

Farming used to have a male-oriented stigma attached to it.  I grew up on a farm in rural Nebraska where my dad and grandpa raised corn, wheat, milo, cows, pigs, and chickens.  And there were many male farmers in that section of the world that did the same thing.  Sometimes women helped around the farm, but never did they run a farm of their own, in my experience.  Now that's changing.

Do you know any female farmers in East Texas?

SFA Hosts LSU in Soccer Tonight

If the kids are in a soccer league right now, it's nice to take them to a grown-up game so they can watch and be inspired.

The SFA women's soccer team claimed the Southland Conference title last year, and the momentum continues this season.  They'll host LSU tonight at 7pm in a non-conference match-up.  This will be the final non-conference game until late October when they host the Texas Longhorns.

Football Fans May Gain Weight on Mondays

Cowboys' fans are happy today!  Dallas managed a 36-31 win over the Giants on Sunday Night Football.

The Texans play in the late game of tonight's Monday Night Football double header.  It's Texans and Chargers from San Diego.  Houston will win that one, right?

The experts say if our teams don't win, we eat more junk food the next day.  So if you gain a lot of weight this football season, your team must really be bad!
