One of Lufkin's landmarks is getting a new tenant.

The Angelina Hotel welcomed the Bella Salon & Boutique last week, which offers hair services, massages, and permanent cosmetics.

KTRE says the boutique saw positive growth and change was happening in downtown Lufkin and wanted to move in and take advantage.  Another retailer inside the Angelina Hotel opened in March.  Mama Tried was previously located on First Street in the downtown area, and moved over to the Angelina Hotel.  And a children's boutique opened up at the Angelina Hotel last November.

This is part of the fruits of the labor by the Lufkin City Council, after they approved a $100,000 grant fifteen months ago for the project that included demolishing of the first floor to make room for a retail plaza.   The historic hotel itself could be restored to modern day lofts.  Stay tuned.
