Texas voters have some unfinished business from the May 29th Texas primaries.  Both parties have a few nominations to settle with runoffs, and runoff election day is July 31st.

Early voting for the runoffs is underway and runs through Friday -- 8 am till 5pm --   in the Commissioners’ Courtroom at the Angelina County Courthouse Annex, 606 E. Lufkin Ave. in Lufkin.

Angelina County voters settled all but one of the local nomination races on May 29th. Republicans will nominate Chad Wilson or incumbent Belton Wayne Havard to be their candidate in the race for Constable in the redrawn Precinct 3.

The statewide ballot features three runoffs.  The most hotly contested runoff is in the GOP race to succeed US Senator Kay Bailey Hutchison, who is retiring.  Lt. Gov. David Dewhurst is running against former Texas Solicitor-General Ted Cruz. Democrats will nominate retired teacher Grady Yarbrough or former State Rep. Paul Sadler to run against the winner of the GOP runoff.

The GOP also has two Texas Railroad Commission seats on their runoff ballot, along with a seat on the Texas Supreme Court.

Early voting ends at 5pm Friday the 27th.  Runoff election day is the following Tuesday the 31st, and the Lufkin News reports the polling places will be all over the county.
