Saying "Thanks for your service" isn't enough for some.

I think this is a great way to take it a bit further. This event is for a select group of people, the people that feel the call to serve and help us all over the world.

Lots of local businesses have made it a point to make this a great event. Starting the ball rolling was our local American Legion Auxiliary Unit #113. A veteran's service organization, they take up the task of serving our Veterans, their families and the Community.

They are inviting all active duty military, veterans, first responders and their entire families out for a huge event on May 20th. Free Hotdogs, popcorn, soft drinks will be provided, and even some Marco's Pizza, they are one of the many sponsors. Live entertainment will be there, thanks to the Lufkin Police Departments Crimestoppers band. The Texas Fallen Heroes Memorial Wall will be there, and a chance to meet founder Carson George. Information booths will be set up including many veteran owned businesses. Their kids will enjoy face painting, crafts, a fly fishing demo, kiddie fishing pond and so much more. They just want you to be able to dome out and enjoy a day out. Plus they encourage you to leave your money at home.
